A RICH HISTORY SECURING THE COMMUNITY
FOR FIFTY SEVEN YEARS!

Floyd is a privately held company that was founded in 1945. The first owner was Floyd E. Backman, a returning World War II veteran. His first shop was on seventh and Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis. Floyd hired Ivan Copy to work for him. Ivan was one of the most knowledgeable people on safes in the country. Ivan’s father had actually had a lock and safe store in Downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, back in the late 1890’s.

In 1953 Floyd Backman got married and moved to Arizona. Jean and Chuck Karch bought the business which was then located at 820 Hennepin. Their son, Mike, is the CEO today. Floyd has a rich history of serving the community for over fifty seven years.
