A RICH HISTORY SECURING THE COMMUNITY
FOR FIFTY SEVEN YEARS!

Floyd is a privately held company that was founded in 1945. The first owner was Floyd E. Backman, a returning WWII veteran. His first shop was on Seventh and Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis. Floyd hired Ivan Copy to work for him. Ivan was one of the most knowledgeable people on safes in the country. Ivan’s father owned and managed a lock and safe store in downtown St Paul, Minnesota, back in the late 1890’s.

In 1953 Floyd Backman got married and moved to Arizona. Jean and Chuck Karch bought the business which was then located at 820 Hennepin Avenue. Their son, Mike, is the CEO today. Floyd has a rich history of serving the community for over fifty seven years.

With locks and safes still part of our business, Floyd has evolved and now offers the most comprehensive security products and services available. We continually strive to provide the latest in electronic technology, software and hardware to meet our customers ever changing security requirements. Our customers include home and small business owners, retail chains, national corporations, manufacturing and government facilities. Each customer no matter how small or large can be assured of quality products and responsive service from Floyd.
